Do I Need a Crown?

A dental crown is a type of dental restoration that completely covers & encompasses your tooth. Crowns are useful in helping to restore broken or damaged tooth structures, while protecting your tooth from further harm. Altogether, they make your teeth stronger!

Crowns can be needed for many different reasons but some of the main reasons are extensive decay, a broken tooth, fractured or worn teeth, teeth erosion from acid or a discolored tooth. 

To know for sure whether you need a crown, it’s best to talk to a dentist. In many cases, the tooth could feel completely normal to a patient while still having extensive decay and/or fracturing. But many patients can feel when something is wrong or in need of a crown, like if a piece of their tooth is missing, the tooth has become very sensitive or hurts to chew on.
